The Secret to Crispy Oven Baked Wings
If you have ever wondered how to get perfectly crispy chicken wings without frying, baking powder is your secret weapon.
Baking powder helps draw moisture to the surface the chicken skin, where it evaporates during baking. As the skin dries becomes crisp and golden. No deep fryer required!
Here is why it works so well:
Raises pH levels: Baking powder slightly changes the pH of the chicken skin, helping it to brown more easily. (I always use aluminum-free to avoid any metallic taste)
Dries the skin: It pulls the moisture out, allowing the wings crisp uo in the oven’s dry heat.
Creates a light texture: As it bakes, the baking powder forms tiny bubbles, giving the skin that light, crackly crunch.
Simple ingredients, bold flavor and just the right touch of sweetness-these wings are everything a good recipe should be-I hope you enjoy making (and eating!) them as much as I do.
Until next time…make something you love and savor every tasty little morsel🩵
